WandaVision Theories:
Has it really been Agatha all along?
By: Ariba Bhuvad
It feels like just yesterday when we were all down the Game of Thrones rabbit hole of theories. Unfortunately, the final season didn't bring to fruition any of the hopes and dreams we had for it, but there is one show that is living up to all its hype recently. And that show would be Marvel's first-ever television series, WandaVision.
Watching WandaVision has reminded us just how much fun it is to theorize and ponder what the heck is going to happen next. And unlike Game of Thrones, we are actually seeing some form of our theories come to fruition.
In just a few hours, the season one penultimate episode of WandaVision will go live, and folks all over the world will be glued to their television screens to see what will go down. Given the wacky, wild nature of this series, essentially anything can and likely will happen, and we're all here for it.
Let's talk theories, shall we?
Last week's episode revealed that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision's (Paul Bettany) nosy neighbor, Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is actually Agatha Harkness. Based on what we know at this very moment, it appears Agatha is the villain of the series, but many do not believe she is truly the "Big Bad" that we've been anxiously waiting for. Which is what leads me to wonder--was it truly Agatha all along?
Sure, she may have been the one behind all the mishaps in Wanda's fake, hexagonal world, but she may be working for someone else. Who could that someone or something be? A lot of us are thinking Mephisto. Some are thinking even bigger than that going as far as theorizing Dr. Doom or Galactus. Basically, WandaVision has caused us to lose our minds, and hardcore fans are diving deep into the comic lore to figure out what the heck is going on.
And then there's all the other theories of course that have risen as a result of Elizabeth Olsen's comments stating there is a cameo that is going to be "Luke Skywalker showing up in The Mandalorian" level. And then there were Paul Bettany's comments stating he was very honored to work with one particular actor during filming.
So who the heck is Bettany talking about? And who is WandaVision's "Big Bad"? Let's break down what we know so far to figure it out.
Are the X-Men finally joining the MCU?

The idea of the X-Men finally crossing over into the MCU came with episode five's big reveal as Wanda's brother, Pietro Maximoff showed up on her doorstep. But is is not the Pietro we know from Avengers: Ultron, but rather Evan Peters' version of Pietro from X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The episodes that followed this reveal haven't really clarified if this is Wanda's Pietro "recasted" or one linked to the X-Men universe. All we really do know is that he seems to be doing Agatha's bidding as was seen in the mid-credit scene after last week's episode. As of now, we have no idea what the heck is going on here, but if I had to guess it will factor into the multiverse of it all. I personally like the theory that Wanda somehow creates the X-Men because of the Hex she's created. It'd be a cooler way to introduce the X-Men rather than just saying they were there all along.
But what has fans really on edge are the comments that both Bettany and Olsen made about a huge cameo. By process of elimination, it would make the most sense for it to be an X-Men cameo other than Evan Peters' Pietro. If working with this actor was an honor of a lifetime for Bettany, than doesn't it make sense that it would be someone like Michael Fassbender or Patrick Stewart? Or even James McAvoy? Seeing Magneto or Professor X pop up in WandaVision would blow everyone's minds, and would be such an epic way to truly initiate the X-Men into the MCU.
We can only hope, right?
Is Reed Richards the aerospace engineer?

During Disney's Investor Day, Marvel head Kevin Feige, revealed that a Fantastic Four movie is coming. And with that confirmed, it took fans a millisecond to start churning out theories that perhaps a Fantastic Four cameo is coming in WandaVision. And to be honest, the clues are there, they're almost glaring us right in our face.
Let's start with the fact that Monica keeps mentioning a friend that is an aerospace engineer. Most of us are firmly in the belief that she is talking about Mister Fantastic, aka Reed Richards. It makes perfect sense given his involvement in S.W.O.R.D. and well, his profession.
But more than just Mister Fantastic seemingly popping up in WandaVision, fans are hoping that it will be John Krasinski showing up as the man himself. It would be every Marvel fan's dream come true, and it's been something fans have really been pushing out into the universe for quite some time. I mean, take a look at the fan-made image above--wouldn't he be the perfect Mister Fantastic?
In 1989’s Captain Marvel #1, Monica and Reed Richards have an interaction, so they have definitely crossed paths before. But Reed Richards may not be the only option for a Fantastic Four cameo. During Monica's first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16, she is encouraged to take on the Captain Marvel mantle by another Fantastic Four member--Ben Grimm. So, let's not factor out Mr. Grimm here, he could just as easily pop up as well.
And if you want to take this theory one step further, than we can also bring Sue, aka Invisible Women, into the mix. She has been quite neglected in the comics and movies, so maybe Marvel is finally giving her a chance in the spotlight.

Of course, we can't look away from the many Easter Eggs that seem to have been sprinkled throughout the season either. We've seen the number "4" pop up here and there, once written on the whiteboard in the same manner it's used in the movies/comics, and another time when Monica is opening a file.
Then there's Monica's Spectrum outfit that looks awfully"Fantastic Four"-esque to me. It's hard to ignore these breadcrumbs that are being thrown at us, but they could also mean nothing at all.
Time will tell friends if we're all just going crazy, or if there is some validity to all our theories. But while we wait, I'd love to hear your theories on what the heck is going on! Share in the comments below or head to my Twitter, @WatchWithReebs.
